welcome to Four 14!
Hey there, I'm Rachel! I'm a graphic designer originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but am currently based in South Carolina. In 2020, I graduated from Auburn University with my B.F.A. in Graphic Design and since then, have established Four 14 Creative + Design, working with a variety of clients to help tell their visual stories.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been creating and exploring the magic that happens when color and form collide. Art and design are simply part of who I am and I love the story-telling capabilities that graphic design allows. As a designer, I believe that every visual problem has not only a solution, but a story to bring to life.
When I’m not working on a design project, you can usually find me at record shops digging through crates of vinyl albums, watching an old black-and-white film while I work on my current crochet project, or tending to one of my many plants. More than anything, my favorite activity involves curling up with a cup of tea, opening up my Bible, and further exploring the beautifully painted story of perfect redemption.
I'm currently the graphic designer and photographer for a church near Columbia, South Carolina. I'm a firm believer that God gifts us with skills and talents so that we can utilize them as a way to glorify Him, so being able to use my skills as a ministry will always be a fulfilling part of what I do. In my spare time, I still enjoy freelancing and working with other clients on a one-on-one basis. If you like my work that you’ve seen here and are interested in working together, feel free to get in touch so we can talk!
I enjoy living without social media in my personal life, so you won't be able to find me through any social platform! However, feel free to get in touch with me via email and let's chat!
what's in a name?
What does Four Fourteen mean? I wanted my brand name to hold meaning and significance. I love the mission-minded opportunities that comes with the industry of graphic design, so I knew I wanted to somehow reference some of my favorite Scriptures through my brand. The name became obvious when I realized my favorite passages were all cited in their respective books as "chapter four, verse fourteen."
Fun fact about me: one of my favorite Biblical figures is Mordecai! His words from Esther 4:14 often echo through my mind - usually when I've hit a creative block, unfortunately. Over the years, I've begun to read this verse as a challenge to push myself, both spiritually and creatively. Mordecai's challenge is a reminder to look towards The Creator with confidence when searching for the source of creativity.
Another fun fact about me: I adore the book of Ruth. Symbolism is a huge element of my work, and I love how it's cleverly used throughout this portion of Scripture. The entire book of Ruth is a beautiful allegory that foreshadows the coming of the Messiah and His relationship with the bride of Christ. Ruth 4:14, though in the context of speaking of Boaz, includes the phrase "Blessed is the Lord, who has not left you this day without a redeemer." Though referring to the figure of Boaz, it simultaneously references the direct bloodline of Christ, our true Redeemer.
The New Testament boasts a plethora of incredible Scripture, but there's something so simple and satisfying about Jesus' words in John 4:14: "...but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life." The concept of salvation wrapped up in a single verse, but encompassing a dynamic and radical change. Need I say more?
So, what does Four Fourteen mean? Four Fourteen is a reminder that my work is my mission field and my ministry. Through graphic design, my goal is to tell meaningful stories and build relationships that allow for others to hear the truth and hope of this world.

When I'm creating, you will always find me listening to tunes from various genres from over the years, from classic hymns to 1940's big band to 1980's power ballads and occasionally a newer song now and then. Listen with me. Silently judge my music tastes if you want. The vibes are all over the place in this mix. But, I only listen to the good stuff.
(I'm always accepting song recommendations, wink, wink)
